Vehicle Description This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air has undergone a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration.
It still retains its original 265 cubic inch V8 engine and automatic transmission.
The intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, distributor, carburetor, radiator, starter, and generator all have correct part numbers and/or evidence of build dates in March of 1955.
The transmission is correct by casting number 3708188 and date code C35, indicating 1955 V-8 and March build date.
The rear axle has a casting number of 3707306 with build date of C86 (March 8, 1956).
This is the only item that has appeared to be replaced on the car.
The car has been finished in its original colors of Harvest Gold on the body and India Ivory painted on the roof.
The interior has been finished in the original option of light green vinyl and beige cloth.
The car has the brake and fuel lines on the outside of the frame rail, indicating it was delivered from the factory with a V-8, dual exhaust, and 4-barrel carburetor.
The frame is not a tubular California Frame that some cars were produced with.
This is the two-piece welded frame that was supplied by GM instead of using a subcontracted company.
Most of the glass has been replaced, the only two date coded original 1955 glass to be found on the car at this time are the two rear quarter windows that have a date code of TX which is August of 1955.
These two may not be original.
