Vintage 60's Danelectro Guitar for sale in Salt Lake City, UT
Vintage Danelectro 4031 HS Lipstick Humbucker / Modified 4021 Not An Actual Production Model USA Partscaster Refinish Here's another oddity that I picked up many years ago. What appears to be a modified Danelectro 4021 "Hand Vibrato" body with an older 3 bolt Danelectro "Coke Bottle" headstock neck. The original Danelectro single pickup Hand Vibrato model is the 4011, the double pickup model is the 4021 and so I've dubbed this the "4031 model" even though this was never a true Danelectro model number for this guitar. I'm not sure how long ago that someone put this all together, but they added an extra vintage lipstick pickup to the bridge location - seemingly predating the modern double lipstick configuration found on some newer Danelectro models. All electronics work. Concentric knobs control volume (large disc) and tone (top knob) for each pickup and there is a 3 way selector switch. Body and neck were professionally refinished in gloss black and the side tape trim found on vintage Danos has been omitted in favor of a perfectly lined white gloss paint. The neck has been refinished with a black "stinger" line down back of neck and the Danelectro logo is under the clear coat. The paint job on this is excellent and consistent all over. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in good shape. Neck is straight and action is low and very playable all up the neck. The frets have some light indentations but still have plenty of life left. The tuners are newer Gotoh tuners and work well. The string nut appears to be plastic instead of the usual metal nut. The bridge could be an original vintage bridge. Knobs are original vintage. Pickups and electronics are vintage. VINTAGE PARTS INCLUDE:Vintage 4021 body with tremolo cavity closed Vintage U2 neck (or possibly another model) Vintage pickups Vintage electronics/ controls with 1964 date code Vintage bridge(?) NON-VINTAGE PARTS: Gotoh Tuners Plastic String Nut Plastic Pickguard Strap Nuts Some Screws This was not my Frankenstein creation so I can't say where the parts were sourced. I've owned this for probably 8 years or so now and always thought it to be a very cool piece as I also own a 4021 and 4011 model. The last picture shows the 4011, 4021 and this nicknamed 4031 all in a group shot for comparison. This picture is for reference only. No other guitars and neither of the Danelectro cases is included in this listing Comes with non original hard case.
