General Purpose

Provides advice and counsel to management and client organizations. Conducts special studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports.

Summarize monthly financial transactions.
Process internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Review business agreements and ensure proper financial reporting.
Assist in contract documentation and implementation of contract provisions and ensure alignment with operation activities.
Assist in response to data requests from external parties, auditors, regulation, and other ad hoc assignments.
Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, business processes, and contract activities.
Develop operational knowledge over control center activities.
Perform physical inventory test counts and other procedures for major warehouse locations in compliance with internal control requirements and report results to senior management.
Undertake various projects and audits.
Plan and direct company-wide depreciation studies.
Represent the company in meetings and proceedings with senior management and regulatory Commissions.
Under direction of management, assist with supporting company-wide activities related to researching accounting issues and documenting determinations in technical accounting memos.
Direct activities related to fixed asset depreciation system processing and reporting.
Plan and direct company-wide activities related to the collection and allocation of construction overheads.
Analyze, prepare and interpret quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports and monthly Financial & Operating statements.
Implement and manage internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Analyze and reconcile general ledger data including preparing journal entries.
Implement and manage internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field.
  • A strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Program design skills including development of interventions, processes, or new or modified programs to meet customer needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to present alternatives and recommendations.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, financial accounting systems, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and model and summarize information.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.
  • Knowledge of research, analysis, and consulting techniques, procedures, practices, and applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations.

Preferences

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.
  • 2
    years experience in public accounting or working at a publicly-traded company
  • General understanding of FERC Code of Regulations.
  • Experience in fixed asset accounting and depreciation theory and practices.
  • Experience in SAP Financial Systems modules.
  • General understanding of utility economics and accounting, as well as utility commission rules and regulations

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
