Social Worker (SERVICES for OUTPATIENT ADDICTION RECOVERY)

Duties Include:
Overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of assigned sections of the program, collecting data, keeping administrative records, monitoring patient/program indicators, managing staff workload and productivity, collecting outcome measures, measuring Veteran satisfaction, and meeting formal and descriptive performance measures. The social worker is responsible for preparing reports and statistics for the SOAR Program Manager, facility, VISN, and national use. Establishes, implements, and maintains referral, screening, and admission procedures for program participants which meet national standards as well as the needs of local medical center services and programs. Directs/coordinates clinical and psychosocial services and is accountable for the overall effectiveness of the services provided. Modifies services to best meet the treatment needs of Veterans and to promote efficient practice and coordinates with other services offered in the treatment program, assuring such services are complementary and comprehensive. Directs activities to maximize effectiveness, efficiency and continuity of care for Veterans. Serves as the first-line supervisor of specific sections/teams and assists with other areas as assigned, providing supervision and programmatic support in meeting the needs of Veterans referred to the program. Provides orientation and on-going training for team members, conducts staff development programs, and assists in providing opportunities to help staff maintain their mental health professional practice skills and acquire new knowledge in contemporary treatment modalities. Completes performance appraisals and assigns related performance ratings, approves awards and initiates performance-based corrective action, as needed. Serves as a mentor to other social workers and mental health staff, particularly those at the entry level, and when appropriate, provides clinical supervision for dependent licensed social workers. Provides training to students, residents, interns and fellows from other disciplines, conducting formal workshops and classes as needed/requested. Monitors the safety of staff working with Veterans with substance use disorders and implements/updates related policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Facilitates admission and/or referral to appropriate medical and psychiatric services. Evaluates the Veteran's situation, abilities, and capabilities, arriving at a reasoned conclusion including level of vulnerability. Develops individualized psychosocial treatment plans including goals for program participation and clinical treatment. Initiate changes in methods and interventions to promote efficient practice and improve patient outcomes. Establishes an ongoing relationship with Veteran participants, evaluating progress towards goals and adjusting the treatment plan as appropriate. Monitors Veteran's progress, meets with Veteran to assess accomplishments, makes recommendations for care and, as appropriate, re-establishes or makes changes to identified goals. They identify health education needs of Veterans and work with interdisciplinary team members to offer a plan to address those needs. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship. Education. Possess a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. For grades below or at the full performance level, VHA social workers who are not licensed or certified at the time of appointment must become licensed or certified at the independent master's level within 3 years of their appointment as a social worker. Licensure. Possess a full and unrestricted license or certification by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. English Language Proficiency. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English. Preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience as a social worker in an addiction treatment setting. Grade Determinations:
Social Worker (Supervisory Social Worker), GS-12 Education and Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services. Ability to provide staff training and development. Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers. References:

Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies. Social Worker must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the social worker or others. Position requires walking throughout the clinic and/or Medical Center, standing for extended periods of time, and involves sitting at a computer and in counsel and consultation with Veterans and interdisciplinary teams. Position will require some travel into the community to meet with community agencies and partners who provide assistance and support to the HJCR Programs and its Veterans. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as:
preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
