Program Assistant - Genomic Clinical Telehealth Assistant (GCTA)(Internal)

This position is located in the Genomics Medicine Service (GMS) which is a field office of Veterans Health Administration Central Office (Specialty Care Services) located in Salt Lake City and supported by VA Salt Lake City Healthcare Systems. GMS integrates genomic clinical counseling and testing into routine care aimed at improving the health of Veterans and their family members. The Program Assistant Genomic Clinical Telehealth Assistant (GCTA) perform a variety of support functions in connection with the care and treatment given to patients who are referred to GMS for services and testing. The GCTA works closely with all staff members performing the assigned clinical, scheduling and administrative details that are essential to the GMS Service. Duties of the position include and are not limited to:
Laboratory operations - Provides guidance and serves as an SME on national genomic laboratory medicine operations Patient triage & intake - Obtain and document personal family medical history and genomic pedigree information prior to appointment. Follow-up with Veterans to get pertinent records before and after appointments Lab specimen processing - Monitors patient site genetic lab testing for sample processing and result reporting Patient scheduling - discuss appointment options, including VVC, schedule in VCM and VISTA, make reminder calls. Monitor appointment calendars for cancellations and work to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner Performs data collection - entry and analysis into GMS database and other EHR systems Supports (CVT) operations, technology and business requirements - Works with clinical, administrative, and information technology staff at all sites to develop, refine, and evaluate implementation of clinical care Assists genetic counselors and administrative staff with various outreach and special initiatives Performs inventory control for nationwide genetic testing supplies and operations Other related duties as assigned Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
serving as a provider-site clinical oversight coordinator for patient triage, intake and pedigrees; functioning as a member of a triage team (under supervision by a licensed independent provider); performing patient intake to obtain and document history, reviewing patient records, physician orders and balances workload among providers in accordance with established work flow, monitor work in progress and review completed work to see that the instructions on work sequences, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met, utilizes telehealth technology and equipment, utilize administrative and business knowledge by participating in planning and developing recommendations for change in a program, policies or procedure to improve delivery of service. The work is primarily sedentary but also requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying of items less than 30 pounds such as files, manuals, and supplies. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
