A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LEGAL ASSISTANT

As one of our Legal Assistants, you play an essential role in enhancing the effectiveness of the litigation attorneys in our bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice group by performing a variety of duties such as drafting and formatting letters, briefs, pleadings and other legal documents; managing calendars for meetings, depositions; and making travel arrangements. Your in-depth knowledge of court process and procedures while filing court documents through state and federal electronic filing systems is incredibly valuable. Though your job is primarily administrative, it is also people-oriented, and focused on providing exceptional internal and external customer service. Always willing to help, you respond in a timely manner to our attorneys, our clients, the courts and outside counsel.

With your strong organizational skills and attention to detail, you effectively prioritize and manage requests from multiple attorneys. You take necessary direction from them, and from there you work independently with little or no supervision. You are a team player and contribute to the success of not only your assigned attorneys, but also your co-workers and the firm as a whole.


SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Are you highly organized, with a strong attention to detail? Are you able to effectively manage multiple tasks with competing priorities? Do you have a can-do attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal?   • Proficient in state and federal electronic court filings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Proficient is creating TOC and TOA in Word
  • Ability to keep and maintain confidential information regarding clients and firm issues
  • Ability to quickly grasp firm specific software applications
  • Ability to manage calendars for meetings, depositions, and/or court hearings
  • 3
    years' working experience as a legal assistant
  • 3
    year experience processing state and federal electronic court filings
  • Two-year degree or equivalent work experience

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
