Now hiring in Salt Lake City, UT Financial Management Analyst Job Summary As part of the Department of Surgery Administrative and Financial team, this position will be instrumental in developing and implementing policies, programs and financial objectives for the Department and its ten Divisions in relation to accounting and finance functions, including (but not limited to) financial analysis and reporting, general accounting, payroll, and cost accountingParticipates in preparing department budgets and enacting Department and Division goalsAcademic research financial management will be a major area of responsibility for this positionResponsibilities In coordination with the Administrative Director and members of the Administrative and Financial Team, develops plans and implements financial objectives for assigned Divisions consistent with the University's goals and objectivesSignificant efforts in preparation and analysis of financial data and reporting of financial and operational information to team, Department, and DivisionsBrings creativity, motivation, flexibility, and strong work ethicDevelops and manages Divisions' budgets, projects budgetary requirements for special projects and initiativesEstablishes good working relationships with Department Chair, Division Chiefs, Faculty and Staff for assigned divisionsUnderstands the clinical operations, management, and financial components of assigned divisionsIn coordination with the research director and other financial team members, develops and manages research budgets for internal and external fundingCoordinates the month-end financial management process , including but not limited to journal entry processing, reconciliations, and reportingImplements and administers new and existing Department/Division programs and services to internal and external customersEvaluates program effectivenessParticipates in the development and interpretation of Department/Division polices to ensure compliance with the University's policies and regulatory requirementsEnsures compliance with Federal and state regulationsEstablishes internal objectives and implements procedures to meet goalsAssists in setting Department/Divisions short and long-term goalsFacilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships with the divisions, SOM Dean's Office, SVPHS Office, University Hospital, and other departmentsServes as part of the Department Administrative and Financial TeamProblem Solving The problems and solutions encountered by this position vary depending on the area and structure of the departmentThis position frequently addresses problematic situations and often acts a mediator or a negotiatorA major task for this position is to understand the needs of individuals and determine what products and services should be provided to meet those needsComments The incumbent must be proficient in making daily operational decisions in assigned areas to ensure compliance of current regulations and guidelinesThis job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the jobWork Environment and Level of Frequency typically required Nearly Continuously:
