Licensed Military and Family Life Counselor with Security Clearance

Smilitary service members and their families as they work through important military life adjustments while serving their countryThe Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) position offers a unique opportunity to serve a vital role, in providing non-medical support, which includes counseling, consultation, and outreach, to service members, military family members and eligible staffNon-medical counseling is preventive in nature and aims to address and provide solution focused approaches to issues before they become greater challengesService members, spouses and family members face unique emotional and environmental challenges due to the stress of military lifeThis is an opportunity for you to reach them where and when you are most neededMFLC responsibilities include:
o Face-to-face counseling to military service members and their families (individuals, couples, children, and families).
o Observe, participate, and engage in activities with service members, military spouses and families; provide coaching, guidance and support; and model behavior management techniques for staff and military family members.
o Offer presentations to service members, military families, military leadership or support staff at military-connected or school events.
o Promote creativity and positivity through approved materials.
o Build rapport with parents and families by attending installation and community events.
o Help with transition adjustments, such as a new position, new school, or new home.
o Participate in regular in-service training or other contract activities as assigned.
o Communicate information regarding trends and issues at assigned installation to Team LeadsMFLC will also benefit from:
o No insurance to file.
o No progress notes required.
o No treatment plans to develop.
o iPad provided for easy digital reporting, with no PII or PHI.
o Paid federal holidays.
o Free and unlimited behavioral healthcare training.
o Reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees.

o Centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence that provides best practices, expert speakers, and state-of-the-art resourcesAdditional Job Duties May Include:
o Responding to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installationo Traversing long distances to both indoor and outdoor locations, to maneuver through rugged, outdoor, or uneven locations (ascend/descend), and work in outdoor weather.
o Travelling to locations outside of a military base in a variety of physical environments.
o Due to the nature of working on military installations or related worksites, counselors may need to comply with various site-specific requirements to work at designated locationsEnvironment:
At the direction of the Department of Defense, duties are performed in multiple indoor locations (approximately 60%) and outdoor locations (approximately 40%)The indoor locations are located within a military installation, a school, a youth center or a child development center (CDC), controlled by the Department of DefenseThe outdoor locations frequently involve traversing over uneven grassy, gravel, and/or dirt areas, ascending/descending stairs, and exposure to the weatherCDC settings frequently involve sitting on the floor to interact with children for up to 2 hours at a timeWork Settings:
As an MFLC working with adults, families and children, you may work in various settings:
o Military Installation:
Working with service members, military families, and eligible staff.
o Schools:
Working with school aged youth and teens, parents, teachers, and staff.
o Youth & Teen Centers:
Working with school aged youth and teens, parents, teachers, and staff.
o Child Development Centers:
Working with children ages 0-5, parents and center staffMinimum Requirements:
o A Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
o Licensure to practice at the independent practice level (LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in the state where you provide services.
o Must be a U.
Scitizen.
o Must be able to pass a basic background check for employment, a Child National Agency Check, and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly called a Public Trust clearanceOriginal Posting Date:
