Join our team and help us shape the future of mobility!Mechanical Engineer - Coatings and SurfacesYour tasksAs a Mechanical Engineer - Coatings and Surfaces, you will be a viable member of an international team focused on creating and reviewing efficient designs for state-of-the-art passenger trains, managing complex interfaces and integration of various systems.
Key Activitieso Write and develop technical specificationso Specify the surface treatment of parts to meet both functional and customer requirementso Specialize in surface treatment and corrosion protection techniques and processeso Create and review coating specifications for various types of components and substrate materialso Design products using CAD, considering all applicable standards and regulationso Consult with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are feasibleo Review and release of technical drawingso Calculate factors like tolerance, dimensions, as well as thermal and structural analysisYour profileQualificationso BS or MS degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalento Working knowledge of 3D CAD and PLM software (Catia V5 & SmarTeam PLM experience is a plus)o Working knowledge of fundamental principles defining wetting, adhesion, cohesion and corrosiono Desire to thrive in a team environmento Self-motivated attitude with strong initiativeo Level-I (0-2), II (2-5), III (5-8), IV (8-10) or Sr.
(10+) years design-related experience in areas such as:
paint and surface treatments, corrosion protection, sheet metal, GFRP / composites, machined parts, assemblieso Excellent problem-solving skillso Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skillso Familiarity with mechanisms of corrosion and prevention / mitigation strategieso Familiarity with various common paint and surface treatment chemistries, their benefits, and their limitationso Willingness to develop and deepen understanding of surface treatments used in the passenger rail industryo Understanding of coating quality testing procedures, and their corresponding standards is a plusOur offerStadler US Employee Benefits Package Includes:
