Help us continue our important work by joining our team as a Senior Enforcement Attorney.
In your role, you will conduct analyses that support WECC's enforcement of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-approved North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards.
You will utilize your understanding of the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program, including understanding the relationship between standards development, reliability performance, and assessment.
You will assess the facts and circumstances of noncompliance to make fair and reasonable suggestions to address noncompliance issues.
You will- Conduct legal research on North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) precedents and Reliability Standards to ensure appropriate and consistent dispositions of alleged violations.
Review and assess registered entities' potential noncompliance of NERC Reliability Standards in accordance with NERC Rules of Procedure (ROP) and related NERC and FERC guidance.
Collaborate with Enforcement risk and mitigation Engineers to conduct discovery and determine the scope and risk of potential noncompliance issues.
Draft disposition documents and settlement agreements to resolve registered entities' noncompliance.
Interface with registered entity compliance and legal contacts regarding the status of open enforcement actions.
Conduct penalty assessments, prepare settlement agreements, and participate in settlement negotiations with registered entities.
Provide legal and/or technical expertise when a registered entity contests a violation and requests a hearing.
Ensure the development of a complete evidentiary record for all noncompliance issues.
Provide legal expertise and training to other SERC departments and registered entities on enforcement related issues.
Attend and participate in industry workshops and presentations to keep abreast of current industry trends, guidance, and processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
You will enjoy this role if you- Hold a Law Degree (J.
D.
) from an accredited law school and licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State or District of Columbia.
Have two or more years of experience in energy, administrative law, regulatory law, and/or complex litigation.
Know and understand:
Industry internal compliance programs and internal controls; and Root-cause analysis Have experience with regulatory practices, analyzing issues, and shaping policies.
Have drafted formal reports, pleadings, or filings.
Are proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Can successfully resolve challenging issues.
Communicate well with all levels of the organization and can present data to a variety of audiences and intelligently respond to questions.
Can foster strong professional relationships.
Are skilled in reviewing detailed and complex documentation.
Are highly organized and able to multitask.
Can lead a dynamic, cross-functional team while still completing individual projects.

Benefits and CompensationThe base salary range for this full-time position is $81,943-$102,429
discretionary pay
benefits.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
