19 an hour Audio Visual Installation Technician Job Summary Operates on site to install, troubleshoot and repair audiovisual equipment for the Digital Learning Technologies (DLT) Department.
May assist with system design & programming as needed.
Ensures equipment operates at optimal levels as defined by departmental standards.
Documents and reports all installation activities, inspections and services as required.
Responsibilities Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains general audiovisual equipment including data projectors, screens, control systems, input peripherals, sound equipment, microphone systems and cables.
Assists with design and programming as needed.
Connects and wires elements of projection technology in classrooms and other spaces according to departmental, technical and operational standards as well as applicable professional standards and codes.
Equipment may be ceiling mounted at heights of 20 or more, requiring the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work on high ladders or scaffolding.
Work sites located on main and satellite University of Utah campuses as well as distance learning sites across the state.
Maintains logs of project-related time and materials.
Prepares project status reports.
Generates system and project documentation.
Recommends improvements to equipment, procedures and schedules.
Assists other employees with assignments.
May direct the work of part-time employees.
Valid drivers license is required.
Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be requiredNearly Continuously:
walking and repairing AV Systems.
With some office-type work but mostly out of the office working in rooms and on AV systems.
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be requiredOften:
Bending, Reaching lifting.
Lifting 50Lbs or more.
Occasional:
Repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
Minimum Qualifications Two years of vocational and electronic training with an emphasis on basic electronic systems and equipment, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.
Must have demonstrated human relations skills and be able to work independently.
Preferences Prefer at least 2 years experience installing and maintaining audiovisual equipment.
Experience with Crestron programming.
Experience with Visio software and interpreting building plans a plus.
