1K a year Business Manager Job Summary The Business Manager is Pioneer Theatre Company's chief accountant, payroll, purchasing, and accounts payable officer and reports directly to the Managing Director.
The theatre has an annual operating budget of $5.
2 million and an annual payroll of $3.
4 million.
The position supervises one full-time assistant and supports the work of the theatre's department heads by processing all personnel and non-personnel expenditures.
The Business Manager works with the Managing Director on monthly reconciliations of theatre expenditures with the University's PeopleSoft system.
Responsibilities The primary functions and responsibilities of the PTC Business Manager are:
Serves as chief payroll officer for the theatre, responsible for the timely and accurate input of payroll information for full-time and part-time staff, including the theatres actors.
In particular, must process payroll information for the timely weekly pay of Equity actors employed by PTC.
Serves as the chief hiring officer for the theatre, executing employment processes, liaisoning with the University HR department records, and updating and maintaining personnel records.
Serves as lead purchasing and accounts payable officer, responsible for working with PTC Department Heads on the processing and accounting of all theatre expenditures in compliance with the University of Utah procedures.
Executes all Actors Equity Association contracts, pension and health weekly reports, and other required paperwork related to the employment of Equity actors.
Serves as liaison with the various theatrical unions (Actors Equity Association, United Scenic Artists, Stage Directors, and Choreographers) in the filing of contracts and paying pension and health contributions.
Serves as the chief accountant for the theatre, responsible for executing all required University accounting paperwork and processes, including year-end adjusted trial balances, journal entry transfers, purchase card reallocations, departmental deposits, and maintaining non-personnel records for the theatre.
Works with the theatres managing director or designee on monthly reconciliations between the theatres budgets and Universitys PeopleSoft system.
Supervises one full-time assistant in the execution of the above functions.
Works with the theatres independent auditors and University internal auditors to provide the documentation necessary for the completion of audits.
May develop departmental procedures as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in a related field plus two years of related experience or equivalency.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Preferences A candidate possessing previous experience with the University of Utah or other public higher education institutional payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, hiring, and general accounting procedures is strongly preferred.
Excel proficiency is important.
Knowledge of, or interest in, theatre is a plus.
