Post-high Special Education Assistant

We need assistants to supervise and support students in the classroom and community for our upcoming school year.
As a public school program we accept students with a wide range of disability from autism, intellectual disability, health impairments, etc.
Our goal is to help students plan for their adult life.
We teach life skills like cooking and finance and have a robust community job sampling program where students and assitants go to a local business and volunteer to gain expereince.
We also take students to a recreational activity once a week.
What's a typical day like for our assistants? Typical work day is 8:
15-2:
00 M-F, and since its a public school we have the usual school holidays and breaks off.
We met at our classroom in the morning to prep for the day.
Once students arrive we have a short morning lesson.
Our students and staff break out into job site groups and review the plan for the job site including how to get there.
Then assistants escort students to the jobsite using UTA transportation (students and assistance get a free UTA bus pass) and work at one of our business partners for about an hour before returning back to our classroom for lunch.
After lunch we have PE or academic lessons until students leave for the day.
Assistants support the classroom by supervising groups of students, working 1-on-1 with students who need more support for behavior or medical needs (which you will be trained on prior), leading or supporting small group instruction, keeping our classroom clean and organzied, taking data to show student progress, and otherwise supporting classroom and student success.
