Job Description:
The Engineering Services professional is responsible for coordinating with engineering, program managemet, and planning to lead the team with Reparing and Overhauling variable depth dipping sonar systems.
This individual will apply electronics fundamentals and use of schematics, detailed specifications, and complex test procedures along with support test equipment to perform final acceptance tests and/or diagnosis of failures of any electronic system.
A successful candidate will be highly developed individual contributor able to work autonomously on assignments requiring judgment and initiative, ultimately providing recommendations for solutions and driving the repairs and final tests to completion.
Essential Functions:
Electronics troubleshooting of systems down to Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) for variable depth sonar systems Develop path forward for repair and qualification of sonar systems.
Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of test systems to ensure optimal readiness and reduce downtime Use and automation of test equipment related to acoustic transducers, systems, and sub-assemblies such as signal generators, digitizers, power supplies, digital multimeters, impedance analyzers, hipot testers, etc.
Implementation of manual and automated commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)-based electromechanical test systems from the requirements and design phases through development, documentation, and validation.
Creation and revision of test plans and procedures.
Participation in test and production readiness reviews.
Capacity and accountability to successfully complete projects on-time and within budget.
Continuous improvement mindset with ability to propose ways to improve product test functions and reduce production labor through automation.
Work with engineering, program management, and leadership to form priorities and program direction.
Ability to interface with other internal departments and potentially external customers in a professional manner.
Ability to lead and accomplish program-critical tasks during execution of aggressive program plans.
Ability to travel 10% of the time or less.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
US citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance Preferred Additional Skills:
Technical Bachelor's degree in a releated field/industry.
Broad knowledge of electronics, test equipment, and troubleshooting skills.
Acoustic test experience is a plus.
Familiarity with LabVIEW & working knowledge of piezoelectric technology is hihgly desired& beneficial.
Completion of transducer testing theory training courses.
Veteran with naval Sonar work experience is preferred.
Manual dexterity and good balance to work in close quarters suspended over a large pond filled with water.
Ability to swim.
Working Conditions:
Office and laboratory work in production areas and an Acoustic Test Facility (ATF).
Bending, stooping, and lifting daily.
Regular lifting of up to 35 lbs.
from the floor to a bench.
Potential electrical and mechanical hazards.
Exposure to dust, dirt, greases, and soaps possible.
Intermittent work outdoors.
Year-long exposure to weather - temperature extremes, water, and ice.
